My Workout-Tri-Fitness training

So as promised-Here is my workout from today! What I love most about this workout is the fact that you can do most of it pretty much any where. So throw the excuses away and get moving!

Perform 2 sets of this workout followed by 30 minutes of your choice of cardio.

Comfort Food

Fall has officially hit and it’s time for comfort food! No I’m not talking about Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (although they are tempting)  This Chilli recipe is one of the easiest and most delicious meals you will make this fall season. If you’re having this meal for lunch, add half a cup of brown rice for your healthy carbs. Or for a dinner option, simply add some spaghetti squash as a replacement for your starch. Warm up and Enjoy~~*

1 pound bison meat (Simply remove meat and make this vegetarian)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium green bell pepper, chopped
2 jalapeno chili peppers, seeded and chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes (do not drain)
1 can (15 ounces) black beans and kidney beans rinsed and drained

1 cup water
4 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin

In large slow cooker Add tomatoes, beans, water, chili powder, and cumin. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 20 to 25 minutes until thickened. Top with your favorite chili toppings such as chopped raw onion, avocado and low-fat cheese! Enjoy~~*

Fish Taco

For the next two months we are living with my in-laws until our house is finished and we have decided Tuesdays are my night to cook and try something new on the whole family! I love cooking and being creative, so I welcome this responsibility with open arms. I’m not a huge fish person, but lately I’m loving Sole! It’s so light, flaky and delicious! Last night, was my first attempt at making fish tacos and they where a huge hit. Enjoy~~*

This summer has been a blur of busyness-So this past weekend, Troy and I got to escaped to Vancouver and spent some much needed time alone at the Hyatt.  We filled our weekend with all my favourite things, time alone, food and of course shopping! I think it’s so important to get away and just focus on each other, and I’m so thankful we are kicking fall off being refreshed!

No bake peanut butter chocolate chip protein bars

If your looking for a bar that is packed with tons of nutrition, will hold you over all morning or fuel your body after that intense workout, you will fully enjoy this bar! I love these bars because they are super easy to make and taste delicious. Make a batch this weekend and both you and your partner are set for the week! Enjoy~~*

3 scoops Whey Protein Powder (I used chocolate)
    2 Tbsp Flax Seeds
    2 Tbsp Chia Seeds

    1 Ripe Banana (mashed)
1/2 c Maple Syrup (or agave, yacon syrup)
1/2 c Peanut Butter (or any nut butter, i.e. almond, pecan, cashew, etc.)
    1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Combine all DRY ingredients in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, mash ripe banana, and add all wet ingredients.

Pour wet ingredients into dry, and mix well.

Spread mixture into 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish lined with plastic wrap or waxed paper. Press until flat.

Place dish in freezer for a few hours, or until firm. Remove from dish and carefully cut into 15 squares/bars or logs. For easy grab-and-go snacks, wrap bars individually in plastic wrap.

Store in fridge or freezer for up to a month. These bars soften quickly at room temperature.

Makes 15 protein/granola bars.

Summer Weddings

Today Troy and I had the pleasure of attending our final summer wedding for our friends, Dell and Andrea.

Andrea and Dell did such a great job of being creative and adding little details to make the day really special for their guests and each other. One of my favourite things they did was at the ceremony. They had a treasure box where they placed a gift certificate for their favourite restaurant and a love letter to each other. They sealed the box and agreed that if things ever got too tough in their marriage and one of them thought about giving up, they would open the treasure box, read the other person their love letter and spend the night at dinner with each other. I love creative little idea to keep the romance alive.

What have you seen at others weddings that you would like to steal for your big day?

Today was a realization that summer is leaving us. Waking up to sunny mornings and warm afternoons by the pool, are being replaced with cold mornings and afternoon tea to warm up.  With that being said, I’m rather excited to pull out the leather boots and embrace the warm fall colours for another season.

What fall item are you most excited about wearing this season? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you!
